The retina is a thin-layer of tissue that lines that back of the eye and is responsible for collecting images that you see via light sensitive cells called rods and cones, and transmitting those images to the brain through the optic nerve, allowing you to see. If damage or disease affects the retina, patients generally complain of loss of central vision and may have trouble seeing detail and vivid color.
The cornea is the natural, transparent lens located at the front of the eye - a dome shaped surface that covers the iris, pupil, and anterior chamber where a second internal lens exists. The cornea has fixed focusing capabilities just like a contact lens. It is commonly referred to as the window into the eye.

The staff and doctor were absolutely amazing! So friendly so helpful and so informative! I will refer them forever! I went in for a consultation and was in for my lasik surgery 2 weeks later! It was a quick and painless process and my recovery has been great! I am so grateful to them! Because of them I can now see without my glasses and contacts and my life is forever changed for the better

I cannot thank Dr. Wolsey enough for my now contact-less and frameless lifestyle. I have been dreaming of this day for 22 years and she gave me the reassurance to finally go through with it from the very beginning at our consultation. I also want to thank Dr. Carter for having taken care of me for one of the post-operative follow-up. Both doctors were wonderful at their craft as well as extremely pleasant to work with.

My husband & I both had cataract surgery, 6 years apart at The Eye Institute, by Dr Wolsey. I want to thank every person from the sweet ladies at the front desk to the techs who were so caring when I felt anxious prior to surgery.and of course Dr Wolsey who answered all my questions and did my surgery. All were wonderful!

This is my only one star review. More than a year after my Corneal cross-linking surgery they sent me a bill for $4500, more than 4 times what they initially stated the cost would be and on top of what I had already paid. The doctors are good but the billing department is completely incompetent. My insurance will cover the procedure I received but they weren't willing to submit the claim in accordance with the guidelines set by my insurer.

I am over the moon right now. I had RLE surgery on my left eye this week and will have the same next week on my left eye. Staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgable, and efficient. Dr. Z is professional, friendly, informative, and very capable! I feel safe at The Eye Institute of Utah. Before, during, and after the surgery, I was treated very well. This place operates like a well-oiled machine. Everyone knew their role and worked hand-in-glove. Very impressive!

The eye surgery went fine, but the office gave me a bill without telling me even though I checked with every appointment. They stated the follow up appointments were free. They stated they sent me a bill and texted me but nothing has been sent to my house and I never received a text. They sent my bill to collections which complete destroyed my credit and any chance I had at buying a house that I've been saving up for for the past couple of years. Thanks Eye Institute of Utah for destroying my dreams over 92 measly dollars. Super cool.

The quality of service provided is exceptional! All information was clearly explained and questions were answered thoroughly. Coming into this office was a refreshing experience as it was very evident how much the patient's time is valued. Although brief, the time spent in the waiting area was very accommodating and even aesthetically pleasant. The screenings are done efficiently, so one is in and out in a speedy yet efficient manner. The transparency in price and quick availability of appointments for the actual surgery makes this medical entity an ideal place to trust for our eye service needs.

An absolutely incredible experience, and I could not be happier with the staff at The Eye Institute of Utah! From the front desk right up to the procedure, everyone made sure I was comfortable and understood what was going on. Dr Z did a fantastic job of talking me through the LASIK procedure and kept me at ease the entire time. 2 days on and I am thrilled that I made the decision to get LASIK done, and can say I'm no longer looking for my glasses in the morning!

Dr. Wolsey performed my surgery and it was not difficult at all. I was initially more nervous getting my first eye done than for other surgeries I had in the past but there was no need to be nervous. Dr. Wolsey and the staff were very nice and caring and the procedure was not invasive. Also the wait time was much less than other doctor appointments I have gone to.
What a difference. I can now drive when it is dark and the only time I need reading glasses is for fine print. I don't need glasses to work on a computer anymore and everything is much clearer.
