Augusta Ophthalmologist Howard Bruckner, MD has been certified to perform LASIK laser vision correction since before LASIK was introduced in the US. Howard Bruckner, director of the Academy of Cataract and Laser Surgery, has been practicing ophthalmology for over 30 years. For the past 20 years he has been teaching other eye surgeons from around the world leading edge eye surgery technology and procedures.

Your eyes are precious. Trust them to experience. Dr. Bruckner has performed thousands of refractive surgery procedures including LASIK, Epi-LASIK, PRK, Conductive Keratoplasty (CK), and glaucoma. Dr. Bruckner is a pioneer in the use of No-Shot, No-Stitch, No-Patch Cataract Surgery. Currently Dr. Bruckner is trained and certified to perform implantation of the intraocular refractive lenses- Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL).
One of Augusta Ophthalmologist Dr. Bruckner's greatest strengths is that he does not limit his vision correction practice to LASIK. While blade-free LASIK works well for many of his patients, for many of Dr. Bruckner's older patients, LASIK does not fully address the need to see both near and far. For those patients, Dr. Bruckner may recommend the latest in accommodative IOL technology.

CK is a new procedure and is FDA approved as a safe, non-laser, non-cutting technique that can reduce or eliminate your farsightedness and astigmatism. For many patients who are frustrated with their reading glasses or bifocals, Conductive Keratoplasty may be the answer. Because of the flatness of the cornea, farsightedness is the most difficult disorder to treat with LASIK and it is most likely to cause post-LASIK complications such as dry eyes, hazy vision, light sensitivity or poor quality of vision.
