Dr. Alexander, SENIOR, was the most compassionate, talented doctor/surgeon I have ever been to. Since he retired, I was hesitant to go to his son, John Alexander, because his demeanor was so drastically different than his father(who, again, of the best people I have ever known). Alexander(junior) had an arrogance and coldness that was opposite his father's kind, caring nature. But, I thought, since he watched his father do surgery, he must have acquired his father's skill, even if his personality and heart were lacking.
I had him do a lower face lift, and filler in the backs of my hands, which are skeletal due to collagen loss, age and not having any body fat. As soon as all the face swelling went down, my face actually looked slightly worse, possibly from having stretched out due to surgery. My 3 teenagers said, I looked better before, I have more wrinkles now, and I should get my money back.
Now to my hands- One hand looked much better, fuller, with less prominent tendons and veins. The other hand looked like nothing was done. The difference was extreme. I thought he forgot to do my right hand, since i was under anesthesia I did not watch him do my hands. When I went back to have stitches removed I showed him my hands. He not only didn't offer to fix it and fill the right hand, he blamed my body's metabolism.
To top off this colossal waste of time and money, he charged more than most, and had additional charges added the day of surgery, after I thought i paid in full. His assistant insisted it was part of normal costs and needed my credit card, i was already tranquilized, and handed it over being preoccupied with the surgery which was starting in a minute.
Part of those add on charges included hundreds for sunblock and creams I had no need for, and was never discussed. I never used the creams as I have my own healing creams that I know work. I have never in my life written a review good or bad. But, this experience still bothers me, several years later. So, I thought maybe this will help other women when choosing a surgeon. BTW- unrelated, but important, I loved his anesthesiologist. She's an awesome person and great doctor.

Alexus Med Spa is outstanding in every way. Monica has tremendously improved the look and feel of my skin and Taylor keeps it looking that way with her incredible facials! Both are genuinely sweet and extremely knowledgeable! The products they suggested (and I now use religiously) have been a game changer. As an added bonus, their facilities are stunning in design! First I had a Halo laser to my face neck and chest. The people were so experienced and knowledgeable. Very calming procedure. And NO PAIN! The staff is exceptional. I could tell they were really trying to help me with my concerns. I highly recommend the Halo laser. So effective and really no pain and very short down time. Then Dr Alexander was able to fit me into his busy schedule to help with my turkey neck and jowl line.
He fit me in because I told him we were leaving on a cross country trip in our travel trailer. The postop care from his staff was exceptional! And Dr Alexander told me to call him with any concerns and he would even meet me at the surgicenter on the weekends if necessary. My last facelift with Dr Alexander was in 2012. When I had lost a lot of weight. 70 lbs.
It lasted beautifully until winter of 2020, when I lost more weight due to covid. That's a very long time for a facelift to still be effective. Dr Alexander had told me before my first surgery in 2012 that I would still continue to age normally. Just 10 years behind. So he tells you the truth. I worked as an RN. One morning after I had worked (2) 16 doubles in a row on a weekend, my fellow nurses took a picture of me from a site that tells you how old you LOOK.
It showed that I looked 45. I was 64 at the time. Dr Alexander's skill is amazing. It never looks like a 'facelift'. It looks natural. I just look 'refreshed'. Gets rid of the haggard look. I highly recommend Dr Alexander and his staff. Don't settle for 'cheaper' procedures. You may be sorely sorry if you do.

Having been a patient of Dr. John Alexander Sr for more than three decades. I can say without reservation. I love Dr. A senior & his son Dr. A does not disappoint. Carrying on the legacy of excellence expected from Drs Alexander. Afforded both father & son working in concert for a long number of years before Dr. A senior retired. I first saw Dr. Alexander Sr., who had the reputation as the finest surgeon in town, when I was a young woman over thirty years ago. When his son, Dr John Alexander II joined his father, the tradition of excellence continued along with state of the art innovations. There truly is no finer surgeon, surgery facility, or staff. Dr Alexander is an artist yet very conservative in his approach.
Most of his nurses and staff have been with him for years. There are many surgeons in town, but for comfort, confidence, integrity, and absolutely natural results there is no surgeon who compares to Dr. Alexander.

Joanna Nicholson PA-C is a wonderful clinician. She told me she has 19 years of experience and it definitely shows! She has a way of making you feel more comfortable in your own skin. She is great at what she does. Such an artist! I felt very comfortable going along with all of her suggestions. One week later I am so impressed with her work. I've received so many compliments from people telling me I look well rested and less stressed out and even youthful. Physician assistant Joanna Nicholson is amazing for injectables! It was my first time today for Botox and fillers and I was very nervous. She took a lot her time to answer all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable. She is an expert and very knowledgeable! She has been doing injectables for years! The procedure was very quick and completely tolerable. The office staff are very polite and welcoming. Overall, perfect experience! I'll be back soon.

My experience at Alexus Surgery Center was nothing short of 10 stars. I know that people in general can be a little nervous going in for surgery; however, everyone here made me feel completely safe and at ease. From the nurses to the anesthesiologist, all were so kind and knowledgeable. I have worked in the industry for 9 years, and have to say, this facility is the most aesthetically pleasing and state of the art location in San Diego. A very nice place to wake up from surgery!

I recently had a wonderful facial appointment at the skin care office. I was treated in a way that made me feel like I was truly cared for, from everyone to Val who checked me in to Cynthia (the Chief of Operations) to Nina who treated me to a fantastic service.
