This is a number one office! The staff pretty nice and the DR IS AMAZING! He's really helpful and knows what he's doing. I had three issues and he helped with all of them perfectly! I am also paying out of pocket and he took that into consideration and was helping over the phone for free of I have any questions! It's just really amazing! Thank you.

I wish to doctor she guy 20 years ago for the removal of a couple of weird looking moles with the laser everything was fantastic and they were removed successfully. Recently I had to go back for the removal of other things and I had the same experience in 2019 20 years later not only that it does not appear that the doctor has aged Lol.

This office has been ok at best. I have come in for facial peels numerous times. Sometimes the staff is great, other times you feel forgotten. During my last visit, my appointment was at 3. When 3:30 rolled around and I went to the front desk to ask why I've had a long wait time, a woman replied that I'm lucky I've only had to wait this long, and they had a ton of people come in today, and nearly an hour went by until I was seen for my peel that takes only a few minutes.
Not sure why they'd book more appointments than they can handle, other than a lack of concern for those of us expecting our actual appointment time. I don't see myself coming back.

Do not go here. I can't reiterate that enough. Making the appointment was easy enough, and then things just went downhill from there. The ladies at the front office couldn't find my insurance info and I could hear them screaming at the folks over the phone for multiple patients (I ended up having to call and they provided me all the info without a problem). FINALLY after waiting 1.5 hours because they double booked everyone, I "met" the Dr. Shega.
They brought me into a room that clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time (and not even sure if it was sanitized from the last patient) and the "doctor" sat down and said "why are you here". He punched some things into a computer and not once did he look at my psoriasis. I was explaining my problem and what I wanted (came in to get the XTRAC Laser Treatment) and he clearly had no interest in me.
He even wrote down that I had a different type of Psoriasis in my book. If he had taken one look at me he would have known he was wrong. After a horribly meeting, I really should have just left. But I needed the treatment so I decided to wait. The front office quoted me one price, I agreed, and then went back to have the laser service. The lady who did it was fine, but she told me I would have to meet with Dr. Shega every time I came in to get the service (which is twice a week) and that it would be an extra $70 on top of the treatment cost for his consultation services!
I left very angrily, paid almost $700 for what I normally would pay $55 for at my old place (and it was way higher price than they originally quoted me). And to boot, I got a bill in the mail two months later saying I owed them an additional $300! I should have read the reviews before coming. Such a horrifying experience, my blood still boils thinking about how they scam so many people.

My daughter and I started seeing Dr. Shega almost a year ago for her hard to treat eczema. We go twice a week and I know I can call for the a refill on the creams at anytime. If I need to change am appointment they get me in when I need in. Their office staff is so nice and professional as with all their staff. Dr Shega is the nicest doctor I have met in a long time and I trust he will give my daughter the very best care.

This place is a scam. They want you to continue using their services so they don't provide you with the correct information. In addition to the arm and leg they charge there, the office messed up my billing info. They did not verify the correct insurance info and then months later I am told that I am responsible for the misunderstanding and I will now be responsible for the discrepancies. Waste of time.

This place is DIRTY and SHADY! Made appointment because I was told if I walked in it would be an hour wait. Was escorted to a dirty office 1 hour 10 minutes after appointment time. There were stained crumbling ceiling tiles, scuffs on wall, a broken picture, old carpet with hairs sticking on wall. Had brief consultant with doctor at which time I was told to pay and come back in. Waiting longer a male nurse came in and STABBED my face without warning me or STERILIZING the area on which I had make up and sunscreen.
Not sure why Doctor took biopsy no one took time to explain. Only told that I HAD to make appointment for two weeks later to receive results.that I could not call and get them. Not sure when doctors became allowed to hold your test results based on follow up appointment. Felt like a scam to bill my insurance company. Stay far away from this dirty place!

Dr. Shega is one of the most brilliant doctors I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Truly, he saves lives every single day by finding cancer and removing it from people's bodies. I am not kidding. My mother has been going to him for over 25 years and he is the only reason she is still alive. With her fair Irish skin and out in the sunshine in her early years, she has pre-cancer areas everywhere.
He locates problem areas, tries to freeze them first, then when necessary, does a biopsy. We are in that office several times a week. The staff is incredibly hard working. UNDERSTAND SOMETHING: They have people that come in and are not sure of what is growing on them or in them and he takes all the time necessary to treat them! Right then! On the spot!
So they don't have to make another appointment to be seen another day. So yes, you may have to wait a bit of time. but he will do the same thing for you when it is your turn. Seriously, it is like a mini-emergency room there. Thanks to Dr. Shega and his nurses (Elizabeth and Dwayne) for taking such good care of my mother. (And my aunt Margie -- A new comer to this process.) Cheers! ~Paddimelt

This place is truly horrible. The first visit I went to, I had to wait over 30 minutes to be seen and I brushed it off assuming that the visit would be worth it. By the time the doctor actually saw me I was passed back and forth from the doctors office to the receptionist to answer questions that the doctor did not want to answer regarding money. The doctor looked at me for less than 5 minutes gave me some prescriptions and sent me away, then the receptionist told me it was required that I scheduled a follow up visit within 2 to 3 weeks.
I specifically asked her if the follow up visit was included in the amount I was paying for the initial visit and she said yes. A few weeks later I went back for my follow up visit and saw the doctor for less than 60 seconds before he told me it was pointless that I was there because we do not expect to see results from acne medication in less than 6 weeks. Afterwards, I decided to look into the facial peels that they constantly were pushing towards me for my acne scars.
My acne scars aren't bad, but they are bad enough to make me self conscious about them. Dr Shega himself told me that the facial peels for $90, and that included the office visit. I decided to schedule one and after scheduling the appointment for the facial peel I got a bill in the mail from my follow up visit weeks prior. When I called I asked about the bill for the follow up appointment and they said that it was their policy and I must have misunderstood them.
I then double checked to make sure that the $90 he quoted me for the facial peel include the office visit like he said it would, and the receptionist said it was an extra almost $80 for the office visit. They are such rip off here, do not go! They lie, they don't listen, and the doctor does not pay attention to his patients. Spend more money and go somewhere else!

Doc Shega asked me to coem next week for a check up cuz i did a injection and some skin surgery on the first visit, so i came here the second time today as supposed to be a follow up. and they told me I have to pay a visit this time too!
I was like this is suppose to be a follow-up return check up, the receptionist told me I have to pay every time i come to visit becuase I saw the doctor.!@#$%*&^%$#@ I would never come to this palce again. they ripped me off and tell you different things!

I think Dr. Shega is the most sincere dermatologist in San Diego county. He is very personal and when he talks to you he treats you like you're family. There is sometimes a wait once you're there, but he's the only dermatologist around who will accept same day appointments. I guess that's the trade off for this benefit. I recommend him to others.

My first visit was okay. I like the fact that they're open on Saturdays and I didn't have to wait very long to be seen. The reception desk wasn't as friendly as they probably should have been, but they were efficient. The doctor was actually very pleasant and took the time to talk to me and listen to my questions and concerns. He didn't rush me or make me feel like I was taking up his valuable time.
He was obviously very knowledgeable in his field and very capable of finding the answers to my problem. Unfortunately, insurance doesn't cover most Dermatology costs. But I have to say that the receptionist who checked me out and took my payment was very clear about the process. She took the time to explain how much everything was going to be if I decided to go through with the treatment the doctor recommended.
I don't feel that I was over-charged at all. But I did make sure to ask a lot of questions and get all prices on paper before I paid for or signed anything. The only full-on negative point for this office was the physical office itself. The rooms were very aged and not as clean as they should've been. The chairs had clear rips all along the sides, which was kind of disturbing.
The waiting room was nice, but the decorations/interior designs were clearly outdated. They really need to remodel. Overall, I will continue to go here for any future dermatology needs. The physician and staff quality outweighs the aged office setting.
