I have been practicing in Manhattan for over 25 years and have learned a lot about how to make plastic surgery patients happy and more attractive. Plastic Surgery is a fascinating field because what makes one person ecstatically happy may be what makes another person self-conscious. For example, two patients may have very similar noses.

Facelifting was first performed in the early 1900s and for most of the 20th century involved skin undermining and skin excision. A revolution occurred in the 1970s when the public became exponentially more interested in the procedure and Skoog described dissection of the superficial fascia of the face in continuity with the platysma in the neck.
Many patients who are unhappy with a facelift come seeking more surgery. The problem is that they often already look like they have had too much surgery. So how do you make someone who looks like he/she has had too much surgery look LESS operated on by doing more surgery?! That's the challenge and that's why I find the field of secondary or redo or revision facelifts so interesting.

I adore this man! I cannot say enough good things about him and his wonderful office staff. He took what could have been a very scary and difficult procedure and made me feel understood, safe, and cared for. He also brought in one of the top surgeons for deviated septum surgery to assist in making sure I was able to breathe like a champ when all was said and done. Dr. Thorne is a remarkably accomplished man who still treats each patient like they were his only patient. I am grateful for his kindness, patience, humility, and care. Thank you, Dr. Thorne!

Dr. Thorne.what can I say? You cannot find a more kind doctor in the US. Dr. Thorne just helped our family complete a very intensive 4 part ear creation/reconstruction over the course of 1.5+ years. At each step of the process Dr. Thorne displayed care, compassion, clarity, and precision. We couldn't be more pleased with the process and outcome. By the end of the process, Dr. Thorne felt virtually like a family member. I had a botched otoplasty 37 years ago. (yes, 37 years ago.) Immediately afterwards I consulted a different doctor and was told there was nothing they could do, so I just went about my life until somebody referred me to Dr. Thorne. I made an appointment and he told me he could do a revision otoplasty, Best decision ever. Dr. Thorne is not only the expert when it comes to ears, he is also a very kind, caring doctor.
I immediately felt comfortable discussing my situation with him and he explained everything to me very professionally with just enough humor to put me at ease. He was very patient as I asked endless questions during my initial appointment, prior to surgery, and at follow-up appointments. Wonderful bedside manner. The surgery was a success! Yes, it was a little pricey.
But we are talking New York City and a top-notch doctor, who will definitely make sure you are satisfied with your results. I just wish I would have found Dr. Thorne years ago. Also, his office staff are very kind and helpful. Denise is always available to answer questions and responds quickly to emails. The whole experience was very pleasant and I would highly recommend Dr. Thorne.

Dr. Thorne is a one of kind surgeon and human on this earth. From the moment I met him I felt safe, seen, heard and most importantly - confident that I had found the right surgeon for me. His attention to detail is not only incrdible, but it's so clearly unique to each individual he meets. Walking into Dr. Thorne's office for the first time was unbelievably refreshing.
His staff (LeeAnn and Denise) treated me like I was already a patient when I had only known them just a few minutes. I am incredibly grateful that the universe brought me to these wonderful people. I could not reccomend Dr. Thorne enough, he is IT.

Dr. Thorne is a fantastic plastic surgeon who knows exactly what he is doing. I'm 3 weeks post op and I am so happy with my results. My consultation with him reassured me that the results would be exactly what I was looking for. The swelling isn't even down yet and if I'm this excited about it now I can't wait to see the final result a year from now.

Dr. Thorne and his staff are amazing! About a year ago, I had terrible complications with what was supposed to be a simple earlobe repair after my previous dermatologist did a procedure on it. Dr. Thorne came highly recommended and the moment I had my consultation with him, I had a feeling I was in good hands. Every aspect of my process with him and his staff was timely, professional, friendly and thoughtful.
Not to mention, he did an absolutely AMAZING job on something I thought would be unsalvageable. He is smart, genuine and takes the time to listen to you and makes you feel that everything will be ok. His staff is also amazing. Setting appointments, following up and ensuring / non-existent wait times are just some of what come to mind. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this practice. I recently had surgery for Microtia and it's only been a month and I'm already so happy! I thank god that I took my time to really look into the best doctor there is in New York and I'm so happy I was able to find Dr. Thorne after he was recommended to me! Leading up to the surgery Dr. Thorne made sure I was comfortable and he always made sure that any questions I had were answered.
The day of the surgery the staff and him included were so sweet and made my experience ten times better! If you have microtia and are looking for a surgeon he is the one to go too! I'm so happy and can't wait to see the outcome when I'm fully healed :

As a child I was ridiculed for the protrusion and enormity of my ears. When I was in my teen and young adult years I learned to style my hair to partially cover them though I was never able to tie my hair back or wear a ponytail like the other girls. At the beach or a pool I was reluctant to get my hair wet as it would only make them appear larger.
After a cancer diagnosis six years ago and chemotherapy treatments I lost all of my hair and had to rely on wigs to cover my ears while out in public. My head size is very small and my ears appeared even more acutely disproportionate. My hair never grew back enough to cover my ears as I am on a life-long chemotherapy drug. At 64 years of age I researched ear surgery and had two other consultations leaving the appointments dispirited.
The surgeons would only do the part of the surgery to pin my ears back, they wouldn't reduce the size of my ears. One surgeon told me it couldn't be done. Then I found Dr. Charles Thorne. He is the kindest most gifted master of his craft. One can't imagine the skill it takes to transform grossly misproportioned ears into the most beautiful, proportionate and perfect ears.
No visible scars whatsoever, just exquisite natural ears. Dr. Thorne is so caring, answers every question and takes all the time you need. The office staff is wonderful as well. I no longer fear embarrassment in public. This past week I went on a beach vacation and for the first time in my life I went swimming without fearing stares from other people. I hope Dr. Thorne will use my before and after photos to show others as the difference is astounding. I can't thank him enough for what he has done for me.

I have always had very large ears. They don't stick out, they were just very long and my earlobes were quite large as well. It was virtually impossible to find a doctor with experience in ear reduction surgery until I found Dr. Thorne. He was a godsend. He did a beautiful job reducing the size of my ears and I have never been happier. I highly recommend Dr. Thorne. He is an expert when it comes to ears.
