Born and raised in the Seattle area, Michael G. Keene graduated with a BS degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. There, he also earned the NAIA District One Scholar-Athlete Award and was nominated for Academic All-America in soccer. He came to North Carolina in 1989 to attend the Duke School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program, completing his Master of Health Science, graduating with honors and receiving several academic scholarships.
Dr. Steffany Shearer is a board-certified dermatologist who recently joined Raleigh Dermatology & Associates in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Oklahoma in 2003. She was also selected into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
The acne blemishes you see today formed several weeks ago. Deep within your pores, sebaceous glands produce sebum, an oil that hydrates skin and keeps it supple. Skin constantly renews itself, so old cells die and mix with your skin's natural oils. Normally, these dead skin cells shed to reveal fresh, new skin.
Many moles and birthmarks on the skin are completely benign, and pose no threat to the person on whom they appear, even if they are unsightly. Dysplastic nevi are usually irregular in size, shape and color and border. They can be located on sun-exposed or sun-spared skin areas. Dr. Puente will point out to his patients which moles appear harmless and which could cause future problems and even develop into melanoma and potentially prove fatal.

I was late for my appointment and I was ready to reschedule. The front desk was nice enough to check if I could still be seen. They were able to still work me in. Mike Keene is the absolute best! He makes a uncomfortable dermatologist visit doable. I'm so thankful for his knowledge and chair side demeanor. He has helped me in the past with surgeries, biopsies and treating skin problems before they become serious. He has been my constant for many years and I completely trust him.

My first experience was wonderful. I arrived and checked in and the wait time was around 7 minutes. All the personnel were very friendly and helpful. Dr. Keen explained in detail the procedure he was doing. I have already recommended my sister. This a state of the art facility with excellent service. My next appointment has already been booked. Thank you so much I already look amazing after only visit.

My experience was horrible today the secretary with a terrible attitude from the time I arrived until I left. My whole family has been in this office for years, but it's really not the first time the attitude of some secretaries, not all of them, is not the best. I think that although the doctor is wonderful, Michael Keene, his attention is excellent, I will not get to a place where they treat you badly. Unfortunately I am going to ask for all our files to go to another office with better treatment.

I arrived early for my appointment and that was great as I got to see the doctor early, and I was out the door early. Staff was super nice, putting me at ease. Dr. Keene has a wonderful, gentle demeanor that I love. I was encouraged by Dr. Keene and his nurse to give them a call for an appointment if a problem arose.

Have been seeing Ginger Atkinson, P.A. at Raleigh Dermatology for a few years. She is thorough and attentive and the office staff and para-professionals are very on top of things. Even though I have to strip down for an overall body scan annually, I feel totally protected and comfortable. Highly recommend.

I have been going to Raleigh Dermatology for the past 6 years, mainly for annual checkups. The staff is friendly, from front desk, to examination and then checkout. Doctors and PA provide through explanations. Recently had minor in-office surgery, which was performed quickly though wait period was a bit longer than expected. It would be helpful to have in-office wifi service to make time go quicker.

Raleigh Dermatology is a very pleasant experience. The ease of completing pre-registration forms prior to my scheduled time ensure a short wait until I am called to see the doctor. Dr. Harewood listens patiently to my concerns, and answers all my questions in a non-hurried manner. Any procedures are explained in full, and post visit instructions are given. The office staff is friendly and greet patients with a smile.

I was thrilled when I arrived a few minutes before my scheduled appointment and was able to get checked in and seen without haste. It was further comforting to have the doctor come in and start the exam right after I got settled into the room. Always a pleasant experience when you go to the doctor and have a fast intake and exam.

I started going to Raleigh Dermatology years ago for my son. Everyone is so nice. The nurses/assistants are very responsive, they seem to genuinely care. I had a scare with a close friend with skin cancer and immediately made an appointment. Dr Lisa is wonderful! She found a precancerous spot I had no clue was even there. I'm a little apprehensive with my visits, I go every year since, but she puts me completely at ease.
She keeps the conversation flowing and before you even realize it, she's done. Highly recommend her and the office as a whole. A wonderful example of the standard of care that all offices should follow. I highly recommend them!
