Smell Of the 5 senses, vision is the most mechanically complex - and processes more information than any other. Vision provides our brain with spatial information - the ability to determine an objects location relative to our own and to determine how it relates to us. By this, we mean how near or far it is, if it is moving and, if so, how fast and in what direction.
When we are young, everything seems to work well with our eyes. We start off by mass producing tears - as all new parents know, and get away with a lot of eye abuse and neglect because our young bodies are fully functional and able to regenerate tissue and body fluids readily. The ideal eye is clear, not bloodshot, and able to focus on objects that are both near and far.
Refractive surgery is a technique used to permanently alter the surface of the lens so that the refractive error is corrected. By performing one of the refractive eye correction procedures, the focus of the light that enters our eye is brought to the correct focal point on the retina. Often, refractive surgery is also known as laser vision correction.

I have had several eye doctors I have lived in this area. The one I have stuck with is Newport eye care. The doctors here are very knowledgeable the whole staff is kind and very friendly. They work with you to afford your contacts and eyeglasses. They are all very kind there and I have appreciated them over these past years for the great job they have done for me

I would highly recommend Newport Eye Care. Staff were professional and caring. Providers were clear and informed me of the purpose and outcome of each procedure. Had the sense that their office was set up to help patients feel comfortable throughout their time there. As noted, I was very satisfied with my eye care experience.

I've dealt with some terrible optometric people in Bangor. Thank god I found Newport Eye Care. These folks were all great to deal with, both knowledgeable and respectful. I'm completely satisfied with my experience here. Don't look any further, you'll only be dissapointed by others. Now that I've dealt with these folks repeatedly I can say with all honesty that not only was my first assessment correct but that their honesty, competence, knowledge, and respect have been even better than my first experience.

I've been using them for a while now. the staff is very friendly, the doctors are very knowledgeable. They have a great selection of eyewear. I wear contact lenses and their contact lens exam is very very affordable. I would recommend this place to anyone that is on a budget Or has Maine care, if you Wear contact lenses.

I see Dr. Ian Jones at Newport Eye Care and he is fabulous! He provides clear, detailed explanations and even shares the images of my eyes internally so that I can see exactly what's going on. I am a 75-year-old diabetic with slow growing cataracts and I have complete faith in Dr. Jones. His staff are also wonderful - friendly, supportive, and helpful. Candy, the young woman who did the initial eye exam, was very friendly, knowledgeable and informative as well. I highly recommend this practice!

Have been going there for 2 years now. Great Doc's caring professional with modern equipment staff and technicians are outstanding. In addition to regular care I experienced a eye emergency and called the appropriate number. They called me right away got me in and treated the problem. I highly recommend this practice.

Newport Eye Care was great to deal with! They were able to not only help my son get the right glasses/contacts for his eyes, but they were also able to identify an ongoing issue that he's been having with his eyes within the first visit. Office staff is helpful and very friendly. We've really enjoyed their services!

New patients considering this office will receive great care BUT must be aware that their time will NOT be valued. My family & I have been patients here for 5 years & every year none of us see the doctor until at least 1 hour after our scheduled appointment time. When we ask how much longer, the response is always either nothing, "the doctor should be in shortly" or "oh that's frustrating." My appointment was at 8:15 this morning & I didn't see the doctor until 9:20. How could they be behind by over an hour at 8:15am when they open at 8:00?!
